Governor Rick Perry announced on June 16th the legislation and portions of the General Appropriations Act (HB 1) from the 80th Texas Legislature that he vetoed in separate press releases. The press releases on his vetoes can be found on the governor's website at http://www.governor.state.tx.us/. Also on that site is a link, "Bills Signed by The Governor," which lists those bills and concurrent resolutions Governor Perry either signed into law or did not sign and allowed to become law without his signature.
None of the funds appropriated in the enrolled version of House Bill 1 related to DPS were vetoed by Governor Perry, meaning the agency's 2008-2009 biennial budget is estimated to be around $1.2 billion. Neither were any bills related to DPS which passed at the end of the 80th Legislature's Regular Session vetoed.
All of this means the monies allocated for Crime Lab Forensic Scientist raises will be given to the DPS for distribution.
Information about specific bills considered by the 80th Texas Legislature can be found on the Texas Legislature Online website at http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/.
